The model we use to win souls in homes is inspired by the Word of God as written in Luke 10:1-12.
A key advantage of working with the local church in a city is it is biblical and we can easily see this without going into too much ‘theological’ detail. The apostolic team worked with the local church in expanding God’s Kingdom. This Kingdom expansion was, and continues to be, two-fold. Firstly, a quantity of Christians is added to the family of God through evangelism. Secondly, the body is trained and equipped to reach out and win souls for the Kingdom. This results in the Kingdom becoming established via fruit that remains and workers who can reproduce themselves in others.
The stages as we understand them in most instances, although every city has its specifics, are the following:
The training:
Evangelism and discipleship training is always ‘on the job’. ‘Theoretical’ training translates to neither ability nor desire to actually ‘go out’.
The local church should provide appointments for the evangelists and trainees with non-christians through people they know and/or meet day to day. There’s also the possibility of one-to-one street evangelism with strangers, public outreach events, and door-knocking.
We show the workers from the local church all the different stages. For example from the moment we enter into the house, going through the time we’re leading people to Christ, up until the moment we’re praying for their needs and arranging our next visit.
We hold workshops weekly with the workers (see ‘workshops’).
When the workers are ready, they are then released to lead a house visit. We simply supervise, ready to wrap up or intervene if necessary. The latter will be done in love and tenderness just as our Lord is loving and tender.
These are the different topics of the workshops we provide:
> Understanding people & love and compassion
> The weapons of our success
> Inspired preaching of the Gospel
> Leading someone to Christ
> Healing the sick, casting out demons
> Post-visit administration
> Creating a cell group
> Consolidating their faith I
> Consolidating their faith II
After 9 weeks of training on the job and workshops, the workers of the local church will be well equipped by the grace of God to reap the harvest and help build a healthy foundation for pastors and teachers to finish building.
“Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it.”
